The Humble Roti

Roti or chapati as we call it, has always been an unadmired sibling of all the currys, pulaos, pakodas and chutneys. And while everyone has been busy stressing the fact that how matar pulao goes well with kadhi and how adding coriander enhances the flavour of already mouthwatering spicey curry, the humble roti was completely ignored.
However, time and again roti has taken a makeover and graced the Indian platter in the form of naan, poori, parantha, to name a few. But as soon as the fanciness fades, we get back to ignoring it. But, as much as we ignore it, we can never forget putting it up on our plates. Because, there is no denying the fact that an Indian platter is incomplete without one or the other form of roti. For a common person like me roti is the biggest comfort food ever alongside daal chawal.
So, the world may be lost in the glamour of deliciousness surrounding the pleasantries that adorn a platter, but the humble roti always manages to stand out among them, owing to it's simplicity, popularity and utility in binding a platter together.
