Kintsugi
Brokenness is a part of life. We often break down under pressures, adversities, difficulties and troubles. And sadly, we mostly give up to them.
When I think of it, I can't help but think of 'kintsugi' which is the Japanese art of repairing pottery by mending the broken areas with gold. How beautiful is the idea behind this artform, and the final results are astonishing.
There is so much that we could learn from it, and so much that can be applied to life. Why can't we use the 'kintsugi' technique to ourselves and our souls to mend and bring out the best in ourselves.
The question is, how to do that, 'kintsugi' to life, how? Well its not that difficult, all you have to do is bring out the best in yourself, to polish your skills or acquire new skills or enhance your creativity.
There is so much we can do when we are apparently helpless, this is the concept of finding opportunity in adversity. And kintsugi is not much different from that.
The very spirit of 'kintsugi' lies in refinement after brokenness, getting up stronger after falling down and renewing yourself every time you feel shattered. Its all about the willingness to pick up the fragments, bind them up with the best you have and come out new and shining.
So, the next time when you feel dejected or shattered, do not stay that way, instead remind yourself of kintsugi, gather yourself, add a little gold or silver of your personality, and create a masterpiece.
